Centauri are bipedal mammals divided into two sexes, Male and Female.
There is no known breed distinction in Centauri society though there
are cultural differences depending upon which continent or province
a Centauri was raised. Centauri are bipedal mammals and have a highly
developed sense of precognition. It is said that most Centauri know
the time and circumstances of their death.
While Centauri look similar to humans they are genetically incompatible
and have several significant physiological differences from humans.
Centauri have two hearts, one that primarily pumps blood throughout
the body, the second made of a complex series of arteries wrapped
in a tight ball that has the task of filtering toxins from the blood.
Unlike humans, Centauri have no major arteries in their wrists,
the blood supply to the hands accomplished via a complex network
of capillaries that soak the hands with blood like a sponge.
Centauri reproduce sexually and females usually birth one offspring
from a pregnancy. Centauri males have six one meter long tentacles
that serve a function similar the penis of the human male. These
tentacles are located on the left and right flanks of the Centauri
male's abdomen where the ribs meet the stomach. Each tentacle can
stretch to as much as a meter in length when fully erect and Centauri
can actually control this at will.
While Centauri males wear their hair up, fanned out like a peacock
and Centauri females are usually bald, this is not a genetic trait
but rather a style. Centauri males wear their hair up and fanned
out as a status symbol denoting their rank in Centauri society and
the status of their house. Females generally shave their heads,
as there are laws and cultural obstructions in Centauri society
against female participation in affairs outside that of the home,
though many Centauri females keep a single lock of hair grown long
in the back of the neck or head.
